Nelspruit is the ideal base from where you can explore everything the Lowveld has to offer, from the world-famous Kruger National Park, the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes to God’s Window and much more. With its tropical climate Nelspruit is a beautiful city, especially in spring when the first rain clears the skies and transforms the bush landscapes into different shades of deep greens.

The positioning of the town so close to the Kruger Park has made it a very popular holiday destination, particularly among international tourists, resulting in the establishment of great a number of luxury game lodges, guest houses, self-catering accommodation and tented camps catering for the well heeled ‘Big 5 safari tourist’.

Many choose to stay in Nelspruit as a base from which to visit Mpumalanga and more specifically the Lowveld area.

Camping facilities, self-catering chalets and caravan parks offer a more adventurous type of accommodation for younger travellers, locals and family groups. This is most apparent during the school holidays when families pack the car for the annual Kruger Park trip and then again in early July when Nelspruit hosts its annual Afrikaans arts festival, ‘Innibos’.

Nelspruit offers a unique escape from the hustle and bustle of other big cities and with many activities in the surrounding area, including animal sanctuaries (Chimp Eden and Elephant Whisperers) and the adventure sports in the Sabie area (Canopy tours and White Water rafting) it is the holiday destination in the Mpumalanga Lowveld.
